What is whey protein? Why do you need to drink a protein shake? What is the best protein powder and what is the best premade shake? What can I use to increase my protein intake when I am short on time?


These are all great questions regarding protein shakes. Basically, whey protein is protein from cow’s milk. Whey protein can help to build muscle and provide you with extra protein if you need to add more into your diet.

One thing I like about whey protein is the fact that is it so creamy! A cold whey protein shake tastes like a milkshake to me! Yum! I can be pretty picky when it comes to taste. I don’t like when protein powder tastes gritty or lacks taste!


Quest Protein Powder

Sometimes after a workout at the gym, I don’t have access to almond milk so I add water to your protein powder. Quest protein powder is perfect for that. Quest protein powder is full of flavor! I have tried Quest with water and almond milk. The almond milk makes it a bit creamier but water tastes great as well!

Salted Caramel is my favorite Quest flavor. It has the perfect blend of sweet and salty (OK, only a hint of salt.. haha). Quest has 9 flavors which is a great variety! I have tried a few of the other flavors but Salted Caramel is #1 to me!

Quest is not gritty at all! You can add 8 oz of liquid or more! Quest has an amazing flavor! I mean holy moly, I can add 12 oz of water to a scoop of Quest protein and they flavor is still there and so delicious! Another thing I like to do with this protein is add it to my favorite pancakes! It really adds some sweetness to the pancakes which makes it so I do not need syrup! And it adds more protein to pancakes! YES!!!

Premier Protein Shake

I’ve only had Premier Protein as a pre-made shake. Talk about convenient! I tried it because I wanted an easier way to get my protein while on the go (and I wanted to stop bringing Blender Bottles to the gym)! And the caramel is AMAZING! They have 7 flavors and caramel is definitely my favorite!! I’ve tried a few and Caramel is the clear winner for me.

Premier is so rich and creamy! A milkshake on the go! HA!! It is definitely my favorite pre-made shake! I haven’t tried their powders but if they are anything like the pre-made shakes, they must be really good!

It is very high in protein and low in carbs. I have added Premier Protein in my coffee when I didn’t have the creamer I like. IT WAS AMAZING!! Seriously, this protein is so creamy and yummy that it is the perfect coffee creamer! And can you really be mad about added protein to your morning coffee?? Definitely not!

Muscle Milk Protein Shake

Muscle Milk comes in powder form and pre-made shake. Since I have never tried Muscle Milk protein, I wanted to get it in pre-made form so I would only get a few servings just in case I didn’t like it.. I can be very picky when it comes to food and drinks.

There are only 2 flavors of this 100 calorie Muscle Milk so I went with Vanilla. The first time I tried it, I did not refrigerate it first. Big mistake… Word of advice, Muscle Milk definitely needs to be refrigerated first before drinking. It was creamy and had a good amount of flavor.

But I am going to be completely honest, out of the 3 Whey proteins that I tasted… Muscle Milk was my least favorite. To me, this Muscle Milk protein shake tastes like cow’s milk. I am not a fan of cow’s milk and its flavor. Maybe chocolate would be better… but I cannot have chocolate. So, I will let you all be the judge!

In conclusion, all of these whey protein drinks are great! My favorite powder is Quest (which is the only one I tried.. I know…) and my favorite pre-made shake was Premier Protein!
